Detox Diet Used By Paltrow and Blanchett Gets Some Play
“It never fails to amuse me when news personalities start talking about gluten-free food, leafy green veggies, and soy milk like they’re some shocking new discovery. Granted, your average American would be lost amidst the aisles of organic or natural delicacies at a food co-op or farmers market; but framing the whole process as alien is part of the problem to begin with. But, I digress…”

Hi!
I was just wondering if it is possible to eat too much fruit. Typically in one day I would eat three pieces of fruit. At night, I would then juice a variety of fruit. Could I be raising my insulin levels to a dangerous level? Could I develop diabetes in the future?
Thanks

Hi Sara,
This is a really good questions, and it depends of various things. Do you have family history of late onset diabetes? That is one question to ask… the other is who much sugar do you eat in a day? Not just in fruit, but in total. Three pieces of fruit a day sounds good - but the juicing everyday may be a bit too much - again this varies depending on how big the juice is and how much sugar is in it. If in doubt see your family doctor for a blood sugar test and see a nutritionist to go through your complete eating habbits - that way you will get a clearer pic of how to proceed. On a personal note - I try to vary my food intake, this includes varying amounts of Sugar Fat and Protein total levels in my daily intake. :)

If you do want to start varying your diet intake - a good way to start is creating a diet blog to track 1. Sugar 2. Fruit 3. Juice - So you can record anything in 1. that has >10% Simple Sugars, in 2. all the fruit you have eaten in a day and 3. record the juice and juice volume - here is an example of a blog I have created tracking items in my day that I am interested in monitoring: http://beti-fitness.blogspot.com/

I know what you mean :) their diets are quite strict. But if you have time and a personal full time chef, it is not hard to do… safely, but if you are a regular person (like me) who works and has limited time to shop and cook, then it is quite challenging.
