Is dieting making me depressed?
“I started a diet just over a month ago and my depression has become increasingly worse even though I’m still on my antidepressants.
Is it possible I’m not eating enough serotonin-inducing foods? I read that chocolate is one but only gives you a fix for a couple of hours. Could cutting it out have a long-term effect?”

while I wouldn’t blame an increase in depression on giving up chocolate, it is certainly a possibility that your mood can be affected by your diet.
also, those of us with weight issues tend tobe more likely to self medicate depression with food. if you are no longer indulging in that behavior it is very possible that you can have an increase in depressive symptoms as a result
