Are You A Computer Potato?
“Working at the computer for hours a day leads to just as big a rear-end spread as sitting on the couch all day watching television. But you’ve got work to do! How can you avoid the poor fitness that comes with a sit down job?” Kirsten Hawkins

“First, the wisest thing you can do is to schedule breaks every fifteen to twenty minutes. ” Says Kirsten. Gee Kirsten, I don’t know if my boss will be happy with me getting up every 15 minutes to have 5 minute break, it is unrealistic, especially if there are deadlines to meet. And bothering others ((8*60)/15 = 32) about 32 times a day just wouldn’t cut it in my office, I don’t think that would even be considered OK in the Googleplex, and I have heard that that is the best place to work in the world.
beti comments > Kirsten also recommends stretches. If I followed her advice I would probably get about 30mins of real work a day. Kirsten, it would be nice if that was possible.
But realistically , I do agree with Kirsten’s view on taking breaks, doing stretches and exercising during the day, but I would have to bring the frequency to a more realistic level. I kinda laugh when fitness and health professionals give such advice having no idea what it is all about…maybe we should get Kirsten to write a Hello World program in cpp???

beti that line was fantastic! Do you live a double life as a coder and a fitness instructor?! If so I’d say you’d be a nominee for “Perfect Girlfriend” ;)
Keep up the great work, I thoroughly enjoy the show. It’s definitely the best Health/Fitness Podcast around.
Also, congrats on the new website betiPT.com!
